Xray images show a large rounded opacity in the upper mediastinum.
Ultrasound images of the thyroid show a huge gland, with inhomogenous appearance and calcification, extending to the retrosternal region. The thyroid measures more than 5 x 8 cms. These images by Mr. Shlomo Gobi of Israel were taken using the endocavity probe to better visualize the retrosternal extension of the thyroid goiter.
